To create a standard job you will need temporarily to add a new job. Instead of adding a customer and unit to the job you will enter the information specific to the template you are creating. Once you have saved the Standard Job template you will be prompted to ignore the job itself.

Creating a Standard Workshop Job

Go to " Workshop Workshop Diary".

  • This will show the " Workshop Diary" and have today's date highlighted.
  • Click [Add].
  • Leave the "Keeper" and "Unit" blank.
It is important that these fields are left blank, otherwise each time the Standard job is loaded it will be assigned to the same keeper and unit.
  • In the "Job Details" section, enter the job "Description" e.g. 'Full Service' or 'First Service'.
  • Ignore the "Schedule" dates as these will not be saved as part of a Standard Job.
  • You may set the number of "Hours" if you wish.
  • Click on the [Description] tab and enter any Detailed Notes for the Standard Job. You may also set the flags alongside each line to indicate if a line is to be printed on any "JC" - Jobcard, "Inv" - Invoice or "Est" - Estimate raised using this Standard Job.

Adding Parts to the Standard Workshop Job

It is recommended that any parts listed on a Standard Job are entered on the [Estimate Items] tab rather than the [Invoice Items] tab. This prevents the parts being booked out of stock as soon as a Standard Job is loaded into a jobcard.
  • Click [Estimate].
  • Click [Add].
  • Follow these instructions to add your items.
Only add the parts that are standard for the job in question. Do not add specific parts that cannot be used for a different make or model, unless the particular job is solely for one type of unit.

Adding Labour to the Standard Workshop Job

  • Once you are happy with the parts added, it may be appropriate to add Labour to the workshop job. This is only for guidance and the hours can be altered at a later date. You should add the labour as a Descriptive line rather than a specific technician, particularly if you are using Real Time Labour Logging.
It is a good idea to add extra information to the workshop to remind the technicians not to forget a particular job, or to give them a check list of what is needed for the standard job.

Saving a Workshop Standard Job

  • In the "Workshop Job Properties" screen, on the "Description line" press <F8>.
  • This will bring up a screen called "Standard Jobs".
  • If you already have some Standard Jobs saved you will need to click {{Button|Add}.
  • In the "Text:" box fill in a Standard Job code. This is just a unique reference so you can use any code you like up to a maximum of 8 characters e.g. 'SERV0001'.
  • Enter a short "Description" for the job e.g. 'SERVICE 12MTH'.
The "Notes" will default to the brief description of the job you are creating, if the applicable system setting has been set.
  • You may specify a job type. Press <Ctrl+F1> and <List> to view your current job types.
  • You may specify a "Manufacturer". Press <Ctrl+F1> and <List> to view manufacturer codes.
When you create a new job, have entered the customer and unit information and then choose to load a 'Standard Job', the system will show you jobs linked to the manufacturer of the unit on the job.
  • Leave "Update Prices:" set to 'Yes' if you want the parts prices to be updated every time the job is loaded. Set this to 'No' if you want to keep the prices the same - for example if you have standard jobs for menu pricing, you will want the standard job price to remain the same until you choose to change it.
  • You may wish to link this standard job to a specific depot. This can be useful if you assign standard jobs to specific sites e.g. when choosing a depot to process a PDI job for a unit sales order. If not set, when loading this job the default stock depot for your logged in site will be assumed.
    • To select a "Depot" press <Ctrl+F1> and click [Search].
    • Select the depot and click [Choose].
  • If you wish to link the Standard Job to specific models, click the [Model] tab.
    • Click [Add] and use the "Search on" box to find a model code.
    • Repeat to link as many models as you wish to this Standard Job.
As with the "Manufacturer" above, the system will show you jobs linked to the model code of the unit on the job.
  • When you are ready to save the Standard Job, click [Done] and [Accept].
  • Press <Esc> and select [Yes] when asked if you wish to remove the job.

Editing a Workshop Standard Job

  • To amend a Standard Job, add a new job to the Workshop Diary but don't start adding any details to the job.
  • Press <F8>. This pulls up the Standard Job Reference dialog.
  • Find the job you wish to edit.
  • Press <F2> to load the Standard Job and click <Yes>.
  • Make any amendments to the Standard Job as necessary.
  • To save the changes made to the Standard Job, get yourself back to the [Job Properties Screen], and press <F8>.
  • The job you are amending will be highlighted.
  • Click [Update]. You will then be asked to confirm that you wish to save over the current Standard Job so click [Yes].
