How do I upload my units to Auto Trader?
Contents
Summary
This article explains how to set up your unit stock so that it can be uploaded to Auto Trader.
More Information
In order for your units to be uploaded from Platinum to Auto Trader, you will need to have your Platinum up-to-date as of 04/09/2013.
What to do in Platinum
Make sure that units have the following details filled in for them to be eligible to be uploaded to Auto Trader:
- Manufacturer
- Model Description
- Colour
- Registration Date or Build Year
- Mileage
- Price
- Category
The category entered against the unit must be one from the below list of approved categories for it to be correctly categorised on Bike Trader, otherwise it will be left uncategorised.
- Adventure
- Custom Cruiser
- Classic
- Commuter
- Enduro
- Minibike
- Moped
- Motocrosser
- Naked
- Quad/ATV
- Super Sports
- Roadster/Retro
- Scooter
- Sidecar
- Sports
- Sports Tourer
- Super Sports
- Super Moto
- Tourer
- Trail Bike
- Trials Bike
- Three Wheeler
You will need to make sure that in " Add or Edit Units", the "Auto Trader/Bike Trader" flag is ticked on the [Web Publishing] tab.
The Upload to Auto Trader will also include the Vehicle Pictures that are stored on the unit details in Platinum.
Your units will now be uploaded to Auto Trader along with your normal daily upload to the Catalyst Findit server. We currently send your units three times a day at 07:00, 11:00 and 17.00. Trader Media Group typically take a couple of hours to pick up and process our file.
Profile Only Adverts
You can now upload and list all of your units on your profile page on Auto Trader, instead of just uploading a subset to appear in Auto Trader's search. All units that you have already tagged for upload to Auto Trader by ticking the "Auto Trader/Bike Trader" flag on the [Web Publishing] tab in " Add or Edit Vehicles" will be automatically included for upload to your profile page.
If you want to upload a unit so that it is only listed on your profile page and does not appear in Auto Trader's search, tick the "Auto Trader Profile Only" box whilst leaving "Auto Trader/Bike Trader" unticked.
Duplicate Units
When you first change from creating adverts on Auto Trader manually to having a feed sent by Catalyst, you may end up with duplicate adverts. Auto Trader will normally remove all your manually created adverts and replace them with the ones in the feed but sometimes there are difficulties matching units from the feed to the manually created adverts so you may need to remove these manually.
