As we all know it is possible to create a new unit in the Platinum system in order both to control unit stock and to sell the unit off. However this is not the only thing that can be done to the units that you have in stock. If you have the "Unit Sales" module and have Live Software Maintenance then you will be able to upload your units to the Catalyst Catalyst-FindIt website.

How can I add my units to upload to FindIt?

  • Make sure that you are running the latest version of Platinum.
  • Go to " Unit Sales Add or Edit Unit" and follow the instructions on how to create a unit using the articles referred to in the getting started guide.
  • Make sure that the units that you want to upload to Catalyst FindIt are:
    • Set with a "Status" of 'In Stock', or other status with "Upload:" set to 'Yes'.
    • Have a "Unit Type:" set.
    • Have the "Catalyst FindIt" box 'ticked' on the [Web Publishing] tab.
When creating a unit record the "Catalyst FindIt" option will be ticked by default along with the "Own Website" option, if you have enabled a data feed for your own website.
The more time that you spend adding Features, Sales Information, Target Price and Multiple Pictures the better the unit will appear on Catalyst FindIt.

What benefits are there for my units being on FindIt?

The article Catalyst FindIt explains the many benefits of having your units on FindIt. However one obvious reason is that as your units will automatically upload every day, we will be advertising your current stock on the World Wide Web.

  • There are a selection of free to advertise sites which your units can be uploaded to. See Third party websites linked to Catalyst FindIt for more information.
  • Catalyst Computer Systems Ltd also are able to provide the means for a web developer to take a data feed of your unit stock. If you have a Third-Party who deals with your website, this data feed will help populate your website with the current stock from your Platinum System.
  • A final reason why it is good practice to have your units with all this information, is that you can print out a data fact sheet of your unit. This data fact sheet will include the Unit Statistics, Features, Sales Information and pictures of the unit and print this on an A4 document. There are some standard templates for the data fact sheet included with the system.
