Summary

The following article explains how to supersede a stock item.

More Information

For superseding a stock item, you will have to have the new part created in Platinum. Please see Creating a stock item for guidance.

Select " Stock Control Add or Edit Stock Items".

  • Search for the stock item that has been superseded and then highlight it.
  • Press <F5> to edit it.
When you supersede an item, it will flag up that the item has been superseded depending on the circumstances. If you are selling the superseded item and it is not in stock, the system will look for any item in the supersession chain that has stock and will try and encourage you to sell the oldest of these items. If you are trying to purchase a superseded item, the system will try and prevent you from doing so.
  • Go to the [Supersession] tab.
  • Enter the stock code of the later version of the item into the "New" field.
  • Press <Esc> and accept the change.
