Summary
This article explains the steps to carry out for Platinum when you have to upgrade or replace a PC that runs Platinum.
More Information
There are some simple actions you can follow to make this process go as smoothly as possible.
When Adding an Additional New Terminal
If you have purchased a PC that has never been authorised for Platinum, this will need a new license. Follow the steps in below section below, then follow this article to activate the terminal for Platinum use.
When Replacing an Existing Terminal
If you have a PC that is failing or has already failed, first follow the section below if the PC doesn't currently have the Platinum short-cuts/icons, then follow the steps in this article.
Changing Networking or Computer Name Details
If you need either to change the networking (e.g. moving to a domain) or to change the name of a PC (e.g. restructuring network) this will require a re-authorisation of the machine as the networking is one of the things the Platinum Primary ID is based on.
See this article to get the new ID.
| Unless absolutely necessary, please try to avoid changing the Computer name or networking settings since you may be charged for the re-authorisation as this falls outside your maintenance contract because the changes are outside of Platinum's control. |
