More Information
What is a Stock Attribute?
A stock attribute is basically a category. A three character code with description that can be allocated or de-allocated against any stock. Multiple attributes can be allocated against each stock item.
- Once allocated these attributes can be listed on any Stock Report Generator Report and can be used to filter reports by. Attributes can be allocated their own categories - this allows you to split attributes up. You can have multiple Attribute categories also.
- You can link Attributes together so when one attribute is allocated it will automatically allocate another - this allows you cope with any dependences.
Examples
Colours
Some of your stock lines may have colours associated against them, not all stock lines may be available in all colours. You can use attributes to indicate which stock lines are available in what colours.
- If you set up a stock attribute category for 'Available Colour' and as you were entering your Stock Attributes you put each colour into the 'Available Colour' category, when you were adding or editing your stock, on the "Attributes" tab you would have a 'Available Colour' section where you could select which colours this stock was available in.
You may wish to categorise your stock what type it is. e.g. 'Paper', 'Pens', 'Tape' - all these attributes could be given a category for 'Stationery'.
- Now you would be able to allocate an attribute of 'Paper' available in colours 'White' and 'Green'.
Supplier Composite
Stock attributes can be used for defining the areas of a supplier composite a stock code should appear in (or if it should be included).
