Summary
This article explains how to extend the "MOT Due" date by 3 or 6 months based on Unit type.
This is in line with the advice given by the UK Government.

More Information
In order to use this option you must first download three Unit Sales reports, two Data Import templates and a custom batch file into your Platinum system.
If you do not have access to the Unit Sales Report Generator or Data Import module, please speak to your system administrator or Contact your Platinum dealer or our support team on 0116 230 1500 or by using our website support contact page for advice.
Configuration
- Click here to download a zip file containing the reports, templates and batch file required for this process.
- Open the zip file using the software available to you on your pc, e.g. Winzip.
- Extract the files to your Platinum data location, e.g. 'P:\SX\SXCo1'.
- Log in to your Platinum system.
- Go to " Unit Sales Unit Reports Unit Sales Report Generator".
- Press <Shift+F8>.
- Enter '~MT.VS' and press <Enter>.
- Press <Shift+F8>.
- Enter '~MU.VS' and press <Enter>.
- Press <Shift+F8>.
- Enter '~MV.VS' and press <Enter>.

- Click [Close] and return to the " Systems" menu.
- Go to " Data Import".
- Press <Shift+F7>.
- Enter '~MT.IMP', delete the remaining characters IMP and press <Enter>.
- Press <Shift+F7>.
- Enter '~MU.IMP', delete the remaining characters IMP and press <Enter>.

- Press <Esc> and return to the " Systems" menu.
Useage
- Go to " Unit Sales Unit Reports Unit Sales Report Generator".
- At "Search on", enter '~MT' and click [Search].
- Report '~MT Create ~CV as Feature' should be highlighted.
- Click [Start].
- This will only take a few seconds to run as it is adding a new Unit feature to your system. This feature will be assigned to the units whose MOT dates are amended by the next stages of this process.
- Press <Esc>.

Check Unit records to be amended
- At "Search on", enter '~MU' and click [Search].
- Report '~MU MOT Due Date Extension - Check' should be highlighted. If not, please click once on the code to select it.
| You will also see report code '~MV' but do not choose this report yet. |
| The dates shown will match the dates supplied by the UK government at time of creating this article. If the extension period changes, you may need to amend these dates to incorporate units whose MOT due date falls within a new period. Please take care if you choose to amend these pre-set dates. |
- Click [Start].
- This will generate an on-screen report of all qualifying units based on their current MOT date, their Unit type and which category of extension they fall into.
- Unit types for the 6 month extension are: Cars, Motorcycles, Motorhomes or Quad Bikes or ATV.
- Unit types for the 3 month extension are: Agricultural, Commercial, Truck or Trailer.
- Units with no current MOT date set will not be included in this report.
- Please check this report carefully to ensure you are happy with the list of units whose dates will be extended and the period they will be extended for.
| You may print the report by pressing <F2> or select 'Table' from the "View report as" prompt at the bottom left of your screen. You can then press <Ctrl+P> and select [Excel] to view the report as a workbook. |
- If any units have an incorrect Unit type or MOT Due date, please amend the unit record then re-run the above report to check all the details are correct before proceeding with the next stage.
Extend MOT Date
Once you are happy with the units which will be amended:
- Go to " Unit Sales Unit Reports Unit Sales Report Generator".
- At "Search on" enter '~MV' and click [Search].
- Report '~MV MOT Due Date Extension - Stamp' should be highlighted. If not please click once on the code to select it.
| This option cannot be easily reversed so please you ensure you have checked and agree with the list of units to be amended as per the instructions in the previous section. |
- Click [Start].
- The report will update the relevant unit records with the new MOT Due date and attach a Unit feature, Covid-19 MOT Update, to those records to avoid them being updated if you mistakenly choose to run the option again!}}
- Once you are returned to the " Unit Sales Report Generator" screen, click [Close] to exit the option.
Log files
A log file of the records amended will be stored in 'P:\SX\SXCo1\Logs'. The file name will be 'MOTCV19****.csv' plus the time and date the file was created.
