How do I enter or amend option packs on units?
Contents
Summary
It is possible in Platinum to create option packs, standard lists of extras and accessories which may be included in a unit sale as a bundle. These might be a particular manufacturer's standard accessory pack, optional extras offered for sale with a particular unit model, your own "starter pack" of useful extras, or similar accessory bundles.
You can associate these with a particular unit manufacturer, unit model, with new or used units, or simply for general use. You will have the option to add any pack to any sale, so these rules are not set in stone but to aid your organisation.
The following article explains how to add these option packs.
More Information
Go to " Unit Sales Maintenance Options Unit Option Packs".
- Here you can search for option packs by various criteria, either by a simple text search, or using the [Advanced] button search by model, manufacturer, and new or used settings.
- To list packs matching your search terms click [Search]. The list will be sorted by suitability, with the top matches in green at the top, partial matches in blue, and non-matching packs toward the bottom in red. Actual colours may depend on your system configuration.
- To add a new option pack, click [Add].
- To amend an existing option pack, highlight the line in question using the cursor keys or mouse, and click [Edit].
- To remove an option pack, click [Delete].
Option Pack Properties
"Option" - The first thing to decide is a short unique code for the pack. You can optionally scroll through existing packs here.
General
- "Description" - Enter a brief description of the pack.
- "Manufacturer" - If this option pack applies only to units from a particular manufacturer, enter that manufacturer's code here.
- "New or used" - If this option pack applies only to 'New' units, or to 'Used' units, enter the appropriate value here, otherwise enter 'All'.
- "Price override" - If you want to sell this pack for a fixed price, overriding regular pricing, enter the price here. The individual items making up the pack will have their prices adjusted in proportion to reach this total.
Models
This is a list of which models the pack is generally associated with.
- To add a model to the list click [Add].
- To remove a model from the list, click [Remove].
Components
This is a list of the extras and accessories include in the pack. You will need to enter at least one part code here or you will not be allowed to accept the pack. The effective Nett, V.A.T. and Gross totals are displayed to the bottom right of the list.
- To add a part click [Add].
- To remove a part click [Delete].
- "Quantity" - Enter the quantity of the item in the pack.
- "Price" - If you leave this column as Zeroes, the system will either retrieve the current price as the item is added to the sale, or, if you mark the item as 'Free', the regular price will be ignored and nothing will be charged. If you enter a value here, this will override standard pricing.
- "Free" - Enter 'Yes' here to charge nothing for this item, or 'No' to use regular pricing (or the fixed price you have entered in the "Price" column).
The "Unit" and "Total" columns show the effective price, combining the setting for "Price override" from the first tab with the "Price" and "Free" columns.
Using Option Packs
- When you enter the unit model code on a Quotation, Sales Order or Invoice, the system will check for any option packs for this model and prompt you automatically if any are found, to see if you want to add one.
- Alternatively, you can manually search for an option pack to add using the <F8> key from the sale unit properties.
- Again, available option packs will be sorted by, and colour coded according to, suitability for your selected unit.
