How do I create a landscape print record?
Summary
This article will explain how to create a landscape print record in Platinum so that any printouts you want to print in landscape orientation rather than portrait, prints correctly.
More Information
You will need to create a new print record for the Landscape printer. To do this follow the instructions here.
Now with the new print record created you will need to set this to print to the Windows landscape printer. To do this follow the instructions here.
So far the set-up we have done for the new print record in Platinum has not been specific for a landscape printer. To do this we will need to alter the number of lines that the print record prints out.
To work out how many lines we need, we will need to know the dimensions of a piece of A4 paper:
- In millimetres this is 297mm x 210mm, or
- In inches this is 11.67" x 8.27".
Printing is measured in lines per inch and the standard for most printers is 6 lines to the inch. As we know from the print record, printing in portrait the "Page length:" is "70" because 11.67 x 6 = 70.02 which has been rounded to 70. As we are wanting to print landscape we will need to multiply 8.27 by 6 which gives us 49.27, which we will round down to 49.
So on the newly created print record in Platinum:
- Set the "Page length:" to '49'.
- Press <Esc> and click [Accept] to save the changes.
- Test the print record with a landscape report (e.g. the Sales DOC report in the Accounts Report Generator) and check that all the data appears on the page. If you are losing the last line, change the page length to '48' and test again. If you are still missing lines, decrease the page length by 1, test again until you have all the data on the page.
