How can I change the wording on my SMS messages?

This article will explain how to edit the standard SMS text messages that can be sent from Platinum, for example, the Workshop SMS text message that the customer's unit is ready for collection.

Units: Unit is a general term used to cover all types of vehicle and machinery, including items such as motorcycles, scooters, cars, trucks, vans, caravans, motorhomes, boats, tractors, ATVs, agricultural equipment, wholegoods and construction equipment.

The standard text of the message that gets sent out can be edited by you to suit your requirements. In order to change the wording in the text you will need to:

• Click on " Messages" at the top of Platinum on the Task Bar.
• Click on " SMS Messaging" and go to " Manage Messages".
• On "Filter on:" search for the message you want to edit and press <Enter>, for example 'Collection'.
  • This will bring up the name of the message in the left box of the screen.
• Click on [Edit] or press <F5>.
• This will bring up all the details of the stored Standard Text Message. To alter the wording on the text you will need to:
  • Set the "Text source:" to 'Fixed text'.
  • This will change the display and you will now have a section to enter your "Message:".
    • Type the text that you would like to appear against the "Message:". The system will wrap the text onto the next line if it is too wide for the line.

Please be aware that if you create your own messages that if the number of characters including spaces is more than 160, this will use two of your available messages to send what you may have thought was a single message.

Changing this to 'Fixed text' will mean that it is simply text and would not have details of the customer or the unit.

• • Once happy with the wording, click [Done].
• Click [Accept] to save the changes.
