Summary

This article will show how you can give discounts whilst in the "Point of Sale".

More Information

In order to give a discount in the point of sale you will need to first go to " Stock Control Point of Sale" Here you will need to enter the 'Account Code' to whom you will be selling items to and ultimately giving a discount to in the "Customer :" field.

Now there are two ways of giving a discount the first is overall on all items on the invoice which will be a blanket discount. Or you can choose to give individual amount of discount to the items on the invoice.

Blanket Discount

This is the easier and quicker of the two methods to do. Below where you enter the 'Account Code' for the customer there is a "Discount:" Field. Enter the amount you want to discount the whole invoice by a 'Percentage'.

Line Discount

This method is slightly longer to do but offers the fact that you can choose different amounts of discounts per an item or choose to not discount certain items.

  • To set a discount against a particular stock item once it has been added to the "Point of Sale" you will need to either "Double Click" the item you want to add a discount to or select the item and press <F5> or click the [Edit] button.
  • Four fields down on the left hand side is "Discount:" enter a 'Percentage' in here to give that amount of discount.
  • Press <Esc> or click the [Close] button to save the discount against the stock item and return to the previous screen.

Once the desired method of discount has been given to either the individual items or to the overall invoice, simply invoice out as you would do normally. and the discounts will be applied accordingly.
