How can I get Platinum to suggest alternative parts?

Summary

The following article explains how you can get Platinum to suggest alternative Items for the one you are trying to sell. For example if you are trying to sell an "official" part number but this is out of stock you may want Platinum to suggest a similar 3rd party part that will do the same job.

Creating a Stock Alternative

Go to " Systems Stock Control Maintenance Options Stock Alternatives Stock Alternatives Maintenance".

• This will show a screen showing the following prompts
  • Stock Code
  • Description
  • Alternative Stock Code
  • Description
  • Notes

Stock Code/Description

Enter the original stock code you wish to add the alternative for.

Information: The Stock Description will appear automatically as it is related to the stock code

Alternative Stock Code/Description

Enter the stock code you wish to add at the alternative. This can be done more than once if there are more than one alternative part.

Information: The Stock Description will appear automatically as it is related to the stock code

Accessing the Alternative stock suggestions

when in " Systems Stock Control Invoicing and Customer Orders"

• when entering an item of stock you may find that the part is in fact out of stock and you may need to find an alternate part. To do this press <Shift+F8> when on the stock code field and this will bring up a screen showing any stock alternatives and their stock levels.
