Summary
This article will guide you through changing the way that Platinum creates an account. As standard when you go to create an account in Platinum the system create the account code, with the first three digits being based on the customers surname and the remaining 3 characters are a generic number.
Example: Creating an account code for the 30th Smith, the system will create the code SMI030. |
Changing How Platinum Creates the Account code
In order to change the way that platinum creates account codes you will need to go to: "Reports & Parameters" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "System Administrator".
- A screen prompt will appear asking "Other Users are in this copy of the software. Do you still want to enter this option?" Simply Click [Yes] to continue.
- Click on [System Parameters], press <Page-Down> until you get to page 4 which is headed Accounts (1).
- The section that we are interested in on this page are as follows:
- "Account Code - Digits :" '3'.
- This is the amount of digits automatically created by the system.(For the above example the amount of digits is 3 for 030.)
- "Account Code - Digits :" '3'.
- " - Position :" '4'.
- This is the position where the automatic numbers start from. (For the above example the starting position is 4. so the First 3 digits is alpha format SMI and the remainder is generate by numbers.)
- " - Position :" '4'.
Example: Changing the above figures to read "Account Code - Digits :" 4 and " - Position :" 3 would result in the account code for the 30th Smith being created as SMI0030. |
