More Information
You need to retain certain details to comply with accounting regulations and you cannot delete an account which has transactions posted to it.
You may choose how best to deal with their customer record but some suggestions are listed below:
- Go into the customer record and copy their name and contact details into the [Notes] tab for reference.
- You can then delete the information from those fields.
- In the "Name" field enter 'Do Not Use - See Notes'.
- On the [Attributes] select 'Marketing Excluded' and click the [>>] button to allocate it.
If there are debts outstanding on the account you will need to choose how and if you can recover the money.
- If you choose to write the balance off as a bad debt please see this article.
