Summary
The following article explains how to create kits of parts to build a finished product. It also explains how to build a kit manually.
More Information
Kit creating and building is split into stages:
Creating a New Kit Part Number
- Go to "Stock Control" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "Kit File Maintenance" -> "Add or Edit Stock Kits".
- In the "Stock:" field, enter in the part number of the top level kit you are creating. If in the "Desc." field you get a "Stock Not Found" message, press <Shift+F10> to create a new Part Number.
- Note: If you build this kit internally, i.e. it is made up from individual component parts that you stock, then on the "Movements Tab", set the "Internal Build?" flag to "Yes". If you sell this kit over the counter, and there is no stock of the kit part number, the system will prompt you to build the kit at the time.
- Press <Enter> to get into the "Part:" field.
- Type in the part number that you want to add to the kit, or search for the part number you require.
- Get into the "Qty.Reqd." field and enter the quantity of the part required for the kit.
- In the "Notes:" field, enter any applicable notes for this line item.
Continue adding part numbers until all parts required for this kit have been added.
- Press <Esc> and <Accept> to save changes.
Now you have created the kit part number, you now need to build the kit and put a quantity in stock.
Building Specific Products
- Go to "Stock Control" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "Kit File Maintenance" -> "Build Specific Products".
- Enter in the part number of the kit you wish to build in the "Stock Code :" field and press <Enter>.
- In the "Quantity Assembled :" field, enter in the quantity of the kit you wish to build and <F2> to assemble. This will remove the individual component parts from stock and put the required quantity of kits in to stock.
Build Negative Stock
This is an extremely useful option that can allow you to sell the finished kit, and then build any kits which have a negative stock level. This then deducts the components from stock automatically.
- Go to "Stock Control" -> "Maintenance Options" -> "Kit File Maintenance" -> "Build Negative Stock".
- You can choose which items you wish to build, but the best way to use this option is simply to press <F2> to assemble without entering any other information.
