Summary

The following article explains how to create kits of parts to build a finished product. It also explains how to build a kit manually.

More Information

Kits can be used to sell groups of items e.g. A starter kit for new caravan users, winter safety kits, clothing bundles etc. The Kit has its own Stock Code and is made up of a list of your existing Stock Codes and quantities.

Do not mix items which have different VAT rates within a Kit. The VAT Rate used at the point of invoice is the one set on the Kit Stock Code.

Kit creating and building is split into stages:

Creating a New Kit Part Number

  • Go to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Kit File Maintenance Add or Edit Stock Kits".
  • In the "Stock:" field, enter the part number of the Kit you are creating. If this is a new Stock Code, press <Shift+F10> to create a new Stock Code.
If this Kit is made up of individual component parts that you stock, on the "Invoicing Tab" set the "Internal Build?" flag to "Yes". When you sell this Kit the system will automatically adjust the stock level of the components to create the Kit.
  • Press <Enter> to move to the "Part" field.
  • Enter the first Stock Code that is included in this Kit. Click <Ctrl+F1> if you need to search for an item.
  • Enter the quantity of the part required for the kit in the "Qty.Reqd." field.
  • In the "Notes:" field, enter any applicable notes for this line item.

Continue adding part numbers until all parts required for this kit have been added.

  • Press <Esc> and <Accept> to save changes.

Set a Cost price for the Kit

  • Go to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Kit File Maintenance Set Cost Price from Components".
  • Enter the part number of the Kit in both the "From Stock Code :" and "To Stock Code :" fields.
  • Press <F2>.

If you only pick the components at the point of sale, you do not need to carry out the next set of instructions.

Building Specific Products

If you assemble your Kits from stock, this option will book the components out of stock and the Kit into stock. This keeps your stock levels correct.

  • Go to " Stock Control Maintenance Options Kit File Maintenance Build Specific Products".
  • Enter the part number of the Kit you are building.
  • Enter the quantity of the kit you wish to build and <F2> to assemble. This will adjust the individual component parts from stock and adjust the required quantity of kits in to stock.
  • Press Esc to exit this screen

Selling a Kit

When you sell a Kit or book a Kit out of stock e.g. to a Jobcard, the system will check the stock level of the kit. If you haven't built it you may find the system assumes you need to backorder it. If this is not the case use the appropriate option in the module you are in to remove the backorder flag:

    • In " Stock Control Point of Sale" press <S+F3> to remove the backorder flag.
    • In " Workshop Workshop Diary" Press <C+F6> when the Availability check screen is open.

Build Negative Stock Levels

If you don't build your kits as you go along, use " Stock Control Maintenance Options Kit File Maintenance Build Negative Stock Levels" to correct the stock levels of all the items involved. This option checks for kits with a negative stock level and removes the appropriate quantity of components to build the kits back to a zero stock level. This is very useful if you pick the individual items for the kits as you go along, rather than keeping the kits already assembled.

  • There is a range screen here if you want to restrict what gets built, but generally the kit part numbers should not be negative.
