More Information

When running an update you should ensure all users have logged out of the Platinum system. You will not be able to update the system if any users, including yourself, remain logged in.

You may download and run an update on any PC. It does not usually have to be run on the server however on occasion this is a requirement. If this is the case the update will advise you it is unable to run and will inform you to carry out the process on your Platinum server.

If you are prompted to "Save As" then use the browser to choose 'Desktop' and click [Save] else the file should automatically download to your 'Downloads' folder.

The download should take anything between '3 seconds' and '3 minutes' depending on the speed of your Internet connection, and should be around '16.5Mb'.

Downloading Platinum Update

Download Platinum
  • Click the icon to the left to download the latest Platinum version.

Early Adopter Users

Occasionally we hold a feature out of the main download and make it available separately for only those that need it or have been asked to be beta testers.

If this is the case you will be provided with a unique link to use.

Running the Update

Ensure ALL users including yourself have logged out of the Platinum system. If you run more than one copy of the system, e.g. for multiple companies, you must ensure all users have existed all companies.
  • Locate the download file Platwin.exe from your desktop or downloads folder.
  • Double click on the file to launch the update.
  • The screen will locate your Platinum system so check it is showing the correct path (most systems will be within P:\SX).
  • Click [Yes] to update your software.
  • When the update has finished choose [Close]. Any significant changes will be displayed on your screen for you to read.
If the update window advised that the system will be required to run a conversion please ensure that immediately after the update is finished you log into Platinum to trigger any conversion processes. These will then automatically start and can be left running. Conversions can take some time depending on the size of the files in question and users cannot access the system until the process has completed. DO NOT attempt to quit the process once started.

Troubleshooting Warning Messages

Occasionally when running an update the system will give you an error message and stop you going any further until the issue is resolved. This section helps you solve the most common Platinum update issues.

Update Should be Run on Server PC

In order to update certain Platinum files, please run this update again on the server PC
  • If you are presented with the above error message when running the update this means the program needs to update or convert some important Platinum files. As such this update will need to be run on your Server or Main PC, (i.e. the PC where Platinum is stored).
After the update is finished it is very important that you log into Platinum to trigger any conversion processes as these will then automatically start and can be left running. Conversions can take some time depending on the size of the files in question and users cannot access the system until the process has completed. DO NOT attempt to quit the process once started.

Users logged in to Platinum

Terminals have been found still using **COMPANY NAME** Platinum. ALL terminals of ALL companies must exit from Platinum before it can be updated.
  • You will need to ask all your users to fully log out of the system.
  • Make sure they do not just exit back to the log in screen.
  • You may wish to log in yourself and find out who is logged in by viewing the " Reports & Settings User Monitor Screen".
