More Information
The tax year runs from 6th April to 5th April the following year. It is split into defined tax periods. Your pay frequency and pay date determines the tax period your payroll falls into.
- If you pay Monthly the Tax Period always runs from the 6th of the month to the 5th of the following month i.e. Tax Month 1 starts 6th April.
- If you pay Weekly the first Tax Period i.e. Week 1, runs from 6th April to 12th April. The weeks follow on consecutively from Week 1.
- If you pay Fortnightly the Tax Period is always the second week in the calendar i.e. Tax Week 2, 4, 6 etc.
- If you pay 4 Weekly the Tax Period is always the fourth week in the calendar i.e. Tax Week 4, 8, 12 etc.
The tax period and pay period, i.e. the period of time worked, may differ. |
Please be aware of your pay date particularly when your pay date falls on 5th April as you may find you need to run a Week 53 (or 4th/5th April during a leap year). |
