Summary
- VRT - Vehicle Registration Tax is applicable in Eire only. It is the equivalent of the UK first registration fee, but is considerably more punitive.
- It applies to new and imported vehicles.
- It is calculated on a formula that is currently as follows : 2 Euro per cc up to 350cc and then 1 Euro per cc above this. This means that 'Harley-Davidson 1540cc' engined models come out at 1890 Euros.
- There is no V.A.T. payable on these items.
More Information
- For a franchised motorcycle dealer, create part numbers for the standard engine sizes for the manufacturer or manufacturers for which they are franchised.
- Use a part number laid out in the form "VRT<value>" for the different engine sizes.
- Put the cc to which this relates in the description of the stock item along with "Vehicle Registration Tax".
- Fill in the Retail and Cost prices with the same figure.
- This should go into the Vehicle Sales Items stock group. This will automatically flag it as an On the Road item and as a Financial item for the Vehicle Sales orders and invoices.
- Set the Sales Centre and the V.A.T. Rate on the item itself.
