Summary
This article explains how to create a workshop unit. This will be a unit that you did not sell, nor have you seen in the workshop previously.
More Information
- Click onto "Unit:".
- Press <Shift+F10>.
- Click [Next] by the wizard's hat to create the workshop stock number.
- Enter the registration of the unit.
- If your system has been set up with HPI lookup, click [Look Up]. Remember that each time you use this, it will cost you a small fee.
- At the "Unit Look-up Options" window, ensure that nothing is ticked for the "Unit and Mileage Check:" because we are using this to update the unit record with the unit details. We do not want to carry out a full HPI check on the unit.
- Ignore the "Model:" and move the cursor to "Description:" and enter the description of the unit.
- At "Manufacturer:" enter the first three characters of the manufacturer and press <Enter>. This will either give you a list of manufacturers to choose from or return one.
- Ignore "Tech Colour:" and enter the colour into "Colour:".
- With "Chassis:" & "V.I.N.:" you need to be consistent and stick with one and enter the last 6 digits into the other.
- Enter the "Engine Number:" and "Mileage:".
- To finish, click [Close] in the bottom right or press <Esc> and [Accept].
When you are creating the unit, some of the information above may not be available. There may be one or two customers who can remember the full 17 characters of their VIN, but they will be few and far between! Any details that you cannot get immediately should be written on the job card by the technician who actually works on the unit, and then updated on the unit when the job is completed.
