Summary
This article explains what you need to do so that your technicians can connect to Platinum Online and use the " Technician Activity" option to record labour and add images, parts used and notes for parts required to jobs allocated to them, even without an internet connection.
More Information
Before your technicians can access Platinum Online, you need to be able to access Platinum Online yourself. First please see How do I connect to my Platinum Online? if your system is not already set up for this.
- In order to access Platinum Online, each technician must also have their own Platinum User created so that they can log in. This is so that they can easily see their own jobs and nobody else's. For each technician you want to access Platinum Online:
- Create a new user as described in How do I set up a new user?.
- Each technician's Platinum user should be given access to the " Workshop Workshop Diary" option and as little else as possible. See the linked articles from How do I set up a new user? on how to do this.
- Each technician's user should then be given a Platinum Online password as described in How do I set or change my Platinum Online Password?.
- Next, each new technician should be attached to their associated Workshop technician code so that they can be scheduled to jobs:
- If you do not have any technicians set up, first add them by following the instructions in How do I create technicians?. Then
- Go to " Workshop Maintenance Options Technicians Labour Rates Add or Edit Labour Codes".
- Search for each technician that you want to access Platinum Online by typing their labour code or description in "Filter on" and clicking [Search] or pressing <F2>.
- Select the technician from the list and click [Edit] or press <F5>.
- Make sure that the "Labour Type" is set to 'Technician', and set the "User Code" to the Technician's Platinum user code, leaving all other fields as they are.
- Click [Done] or press <Esc> and click [Accept] to finish editing the technician and save your changes.
Once you have set up your technicians so that they can be scheduled to jobs, follow the instructions at How do I schedule a technician for a workshop job? to schedule a technician for a job.
Your technicians will now be able to log into Platinum Online using their online ID and password to view, record labour and add images, parts used and notes for parts required to jobs scheduled to them.
