== Summary ==
This article explains the steps to carry out for Platinum when you have to upgrade or replace a PC that runs Platinum. There are some simple actions you can follow to make this process go as smoothly as possible.

== When Adding an Additional New Terminal ==
If you have purchased a PC that has never been authorised for Platinum, this will need a new license. Follow the steps in the "Preparing a New PC for use in Platinum" section below.

=== Changing Networking or Computer Name Details ===
If you need either to change the networking (e.g. moving to a domain) or to change the name of a PC (e.g. restructuring network) this will require a re-authorisation of the machine as the networking is one of the things the Platinum Primary ID is based on.

== Preparing a New PC for use in Platinum ==
* Make sure the new PC is connected to your network and has access to your Platinum server.
* Map a Network drive that is the same Letter as all the other PC's by going to: 
** "My Computer" -> "Tools" -> "Map Network Drive". 
** Select the Platinum Drive letter in the "Drive" drop-down box.
** Use the "Browse" box to enter the Network path to the shared (Public) folder on the Server, e.g. {{FilePath|\\Server\Public}}.
{{Tip|title=Tip|text=You can work out what drive letter the other PC's are using by moving to a Platinum PC that is still working and right clicking on its Platinum icon and going to "Properties" and reading the first letter of the "Start In" box.}}       
* Once the Network Drive is mapped, go to "My Computer" and browse to the new Network Drive letter, e.g. {{FilePath|P:}} -> then to the {{FilePath|SX}} Folder -> then to the {{FilePath|SXUTILS}} folder.
** Look for an icon that looks like a "Medical Bag" with a Platinum logo next to it called {{FilePath|SXTERM}} and double click to run it.
** The program will ask you for the Platinum installation Path. If it is not already filled in, this is the letter of the Platinum network drive plus :\Sx, e.g. P:\Sx. Enter this and click the {{Button|Save}} button.
** The screen will then ask you for a Terminal sequence number. This is a Serial number for an "Epic" Branded PC purchased from Catalyst. If it has be bought from us, this number will be on the rear of the PC on a small white label. If it is not a PC purchased from Catalyst, click the {{Button|Not Epic}} Button.
** The last screen asks for a computer description which you can fill in. We generally recommend entering the name of the person who uses the machine and where it is.

** The next step will take you to a new window asking if you want to run a Platinum Update. Click the {{Button|No}} Box.
** There will now be a list of options on screen. Left click the line that says "Install Platinum Shortcuts", then click {{Button|Next}}.
** A bar will go across the screen and you will then get a {{Button|Finish}} button to click to complete the operation. This will have installed the Platinum shortcut on the new PC ready for use.

* Double left click your new Platinum Shortcut. This should bring up a "Login Error 107 (????)". The code in brackets is the new machine's SX Primary ID and should match the note you made earlier when running SXTERM.
* {{SalesContact}} to get your new machine authorised, quoting that you would like to "Re-authorise a Platinum Terminal".
* Give your account manager any old and new codes you have retrieved in the previous steps, and the re-authorisation can then be arranged.
