More Information
When running an update you should ensure all users have logged out of the Platinum system. You will not be able to update the system if any users, including yourself, remain logged in.
You may download and run an update on any PC. It does not usually have to be run on the server however on occasion this is a requirement. If this is the case the update will advise you it is unable to run and will inform you to carry out the process on your Platinum server.

Early Adopter Download
Occasionally we hold a feature out of the main download and make it available separately for only those that need it or have been asked to be beta testers.
If this is the case you will be provided with a unique link to use.
Running the Update
Payroll Users
If your system has the Payroll module installed and changes need to be applied during the Tax Year you will receive a communication providing specific guidance. In this case a Platinum update should be run at the Start of a new payroll period, in which the changes should take effect. |
Towards the end of the Tax Year you will receive a communication advising you of how to proceed so please ensure you advise us of any changes in contact details for your payroll administrator.
Updating
Ensure ALL users including yourself have logged out of the Platinum system. If you run more than one copy of the system, e.g. for multiple companies, you must ensure all users have existed all companies. |
- Locate the download file Platwin.exe from your desktop or downloads folder.
- Double click on the file to launch the update.
- The screen will locate your Platinum system so check it is showing the correct path (most systems will be within P:\SX).
- Click [Yes] to update your software.
- When the update has finished choose [Close]. Any significant changes will be displayed on your screen for you to read.
If the update window advised that the system will be required to run a conversion please ensure that immediately after the update is finished you log into Platinum to trigger any conversion processes. These will then automatically start and can be left running. Conversions can take some time depending on the size of the files in question and users cannot access the system until the process has completed. DO NOT attempt to quit the process once started. |
Troubleshooting Warning Messages
Occasionally when running an update the system will give you an error message and stop you going any further until the issue is resolved. This section helps you solve the most common Platinum update issues.
